Design Researcher for Mobile | March 2017 – July 2018

Embedded design researcher for the Premera mobile team responsible for conducting research that informs and validates design.

  • Completed foundational and tactical research of Premera’s iOS and Android mobile applications, for our 2+ million members US-wide.

  • Conducted baseline usability studies for iOS; collected metrics for SUS, task success rate, and task ease.

  • Accessibility SME for mobile; conducted usability studies with blind participants, developed best practices for implementation and integrated accessibility into product development lifecycle.

  • Lead content research for Premera’s SMS service, focusing on clearly communication information to members; unsubscribe rates are less than half of national average for health insurers.

  • Expanded the range of methods that the mobile team uses to include surveys, click tests, card sorts and unmoderated studies.


Atlas Informatics (startup)

User Experience Researcher | August 2016 – March 2017

Mixed methods researcher supporting the product team through a 2500% increase of the user base following open beta launch.

  • Conducted data analysis in MySQL and Python to identify areas of opportunity in Atlas Recall, from onboarding funnels to key metrics of user engagement to retention rates of users over time.

  • Segmented users based on behavioral clusters; used segmentation for in-house study recruitment.

  • Designed and facilitated usability studies; worked with designers and product managers to define study goals; analyzed data and reported out results to team to effect design changes.

  • Conducted surveys, identified promising segments of customers for our startup’s product, and ran usability observation sessions for the team.

  • Evaluated the online gift card purchasing process with a 9-participant usability study. Authored the study plan, facilitated usability sessions, analyzed results, and reported our team’s recommendations to R.E.I.
